frequently asked questions.

Where do you post updates?

I generally post to my Instagram when designs are ready for the public or ready to drop for preorders. Updates and order delays will be posted to my story. If you would like to be most up to date and see my work in progress or sketches as soon as they happen, I would suggest checking out my Patreon. If you have any questions please contact me via my Etsy Store. My e-mail inbox can get flooded by incoming orders and purchased shipping labels, so messages can be nestled in and overlooked. Etsy will give me immediate notifications.

Will you restock a product?

Currently, I do not have plans to restock my pins due to the cost of production. As long as the pins are not labeled as Limited Edition, a restock could happen in the future, but there are no guarantees.

How do you grade your pins?

Enamel pins are handmade items; each area of the pin is filled manually with a syringe. The quality of each batch and the quality amongst the batch can vary greatly. Faults on the front of the pins are graded harder than the sides or the backs of pins. Flaws in the face and around faces are prioritized when grading; a pin with facial defects will never be an A Grade/Standard.

A Grade/Standard

Pins with minor flaws. They generally have one or two minor defects.

  • Some paint in the wrong section/bleed

  • Small paint dip(s)

  • Screen printing slightly out of place

  • Insignificant chips or marks on the enamel

  • A couple of bubbles in glitter enamel

  • Minor fleck or dust in the enamel

  • Small area or insignificant buffing marks on the metal

  • Insignificant scratches on the metal/paint

  • Minor plating imperfections on the front of the pin

B Grade/Seconds

Pins with very medium flaws. They generally have one or two medium defects.

  • Some paint in the wrong section/bleed

  • Moderate paint dip(s)

  • Noticeable screen printing out of place

  • Small chips or marks on the enamel

  • Some bubbles in glitter enamel

  • Noticeable dust or flecks

  • Posts that are bent or slightly loose

  • Medium areas of buffing marks on the metal

  • Medium scratches on the metal/paint

  • Moderate plating imperfections on the front of the pin

C Grade

Pins with multiple defects listed above and/or those defects cover a larger area.

  • Multiple or large air bubbles in the enamel paint

  • Large paint dip(s)

  • Screen printing majorly offset

  • Large areas of paint missing or chipped

  • Posts that are significantly bent or loose

  • Large areas of buffing marks on the metal

  • Large or significant scratches on the metal/paint

  • Significant plating imperfections on the front of the pin

Polar Pals Status: Delayed with Manufacturer
3/29/2021: I was very excited to receive the Polar Pal pins this week after a subpar screen print delay that happened in February. I had been sorting and grading the new shipment with friends and family. But there are quality issues that have surfaced and I am currently trying to remedy the situation with the manufacturer. I do not believe I can send the pins out to customers who have preordered as they currently are since they do not meet my quality of A/Standard Grade. I will be posting a formal update publicly when I have a clearer resolution with the manufacturer. At that point, I will be able to see what options I can provide to customers moving forward. I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused, and I really appreciate your patience in this process.
5/14/2021: Manufacturer agreed to remake the pins because of the scratches. It was a long process, I had to arrange an international shipment with consignment forms and manifests and everything between FedEx and TNT for overseas. They spent about 2 weeks+ just counting the pins and talking among their departments on whether or not to remake the pins because of the scratches. I will update when they give me an ETA.6/24/2021: Manufacturer says pins have been plated and polished. 4 of the pins are finished.7/13/2021: All the pins have been sent for screen printing and after drying they should be ready to mail them to me!
